Objectives: 1) To discuss the most up-to-date recommendations regarding the diagnosis and treatment of sinusitis, otitis, pharyngitis, and pneumonia in adults and children Approach to the Child with Lymphadenopathy Objectives: 1) To learn a systematic approach to the outpatient evaluation and management of lymphadenopathy, with special emphasis on diagnostic considerations in children with normal screening laboratory studies Immunization Update Objectives: 1) To update participants on the latest recommendations for preventative vaccinations in children and adults, with emphasis on newly licensed vaccines and modifications to the current vaccine schedule and vaccination of special populations, including pregnant women A Rash by Any Other Name Objectives: 1) To review common infectious skin lesions encountered in the primary care setting, as well as life-threatening lesions, through a case-based discussion Identifying HIV and Viral Hepatitis in the Primary Care Setting Objectives: 1) To familiarize participants with common presentations of Acute HIV Infection, AIDS, and Acute and Chronic Viral Hepatitis (including Hepatitis A, B, and C) Why Antibiotics Fail Objectives: 1) To outline the common reasons why antibiotic therapy is not successful and how this can be avoided Don’t Drink the Water: A Primer on Infectious Diarrhea Objectives: 1) To familiarize participants with the causes, diagnostic work-up, and treatment of the most common etiologies of infectious diarrhea, including C. Difficile infections in adults and children Unintended Consequences: Antibiotic Side Effects Objectives: 1) To familiarize participants with common and unusual side effects of the most frequently used antibiotics in the United States Animal Bites and Rabies Objectives: 1) To discuss infections related to animal bites, including issues surrounding rabies pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis and infection.
