The Life of a Government Capital Building Construction Project" presented by Jennifer Bracewell, PMP, MPA/ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Government Capital building projects have a life of their own. This presentation will walk through the life of two of the most recent and most complex construction projects in CDC history with combined budgets totaling over $550M, the Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory and the East Campus Laboratory Consolidation Project. Jennifer serves as the Management Officer for the Office of Safety, Security, and Asset Management (OSSAM) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. Jennifer joined CDC in 2005 as an Architect and co-lead the design team for the construction of CDC’s Building 18, Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory on the Roybal campus, a 395,000 sf which included BioSafety Level 2, BioSafety Level 3, and BioSafety Level 4 laboratores and lead the team for facility activation. She then went on to co-lead the design team for the construction of CDC’s Roybal Campus Building 23 a 735,000 sf resarch laboratory facility, which includes insectary, vivarium, BSL-2 and 3 laboratories.
