Association of Private Enterprise Education Meeting

The Association of Private Enterprise Education® (APEE) invites paper submissions and session proposals for its 47th Meeting, which will take place at JW Mariott Cancun Resort & Spa in Cancun, Mexico. The Association is composed of scholars pursuing research in economics and other academic disciplines, as well as policy analysts and professional educators. The APEE Meeting explores topics related to the private enterprise system with research presentations and panel discussions focused on .. continue reading fields including, but not limited to, applied microeconomics, Austrian economics, public choice, new institutional economics, and political economy, as well as economic education and instructional techniques. The submission fee for the Association's journal, The Journal of Private Enterprise, is waived for papers presented at the APEE Meeting. As the world seems determined to continue and even escalate international conflict, it is time for our community of classical liberal scholars to focus on paths towards peace. Peace is never stable, but the result of an ongoing emergent process arising from human choice. An effective peace process is shaped by liberty, polycentricity, free-market exchange, and entrepreneurial creativity. Liberty promotes human agency, which gives peace its value. Polycentricity helps to avoid the tyranny of Leviathan. With free markets, one realizes the dividends of peace. Through creativity, one can imagine worlds not yet realized and inspire novel approaches to a continuing peace process. At the same time, stable peace is inconsistent with coercive government interventions, including liberal imperialism. The APEE 47th Meeting provides an opportunity to reflect on the political economy of contemporary international conflict, and to discuss classical liberal perspectives on paths towards a stable peace.
