AWP was founded in the year 1967 to support the no. of growing literary writers in higher education. It was originally named as “Associated Writing Programs”. It is an association which provides various services to writers and teachers like community opportunities ideas news and advocacy. This association also provides services to 34000 writers 500 colleges and universities creative writing programmes and 100 writers’ conferences and centers. The association aims to deliver literary achievement developing the art of writing which is an essential for a good education. It renders services to the makers teachers students and readers of contemporary writing. This association has helped North America in developing a varied and diversified literature as its peoples; and has also helped in establishing the world’s largest literary patronage.
