This show has many folks selling beads and they have very similar items with the exception of a few. It's worth a visit especially if you make jewelry. Only 1 vendor had small beads people use for weaving and they quality wasn't very good but for people who string beads or use large centerpiece beads to weave around, there's plenty to purchase.
Location! location!Vendors that were there were very nice and well prepared but the location was awful for them as well as shoppers. Please look at shopper friendly areas when planning the next one. Will definitely attend April event at Market Center always a good turn out!
There was a parking garage across the street, but it was too expensive. Could you arrange it so that people who were going to the Gem Show could get a discount on parking? I ended up parking 4 blocks away. Also, I wish there were more vendors (used to be more in past shows). I bought something from Glitters Import and I love them!
to be fair, i went to the show looking for a very specific item to make a necklace and it was not there. in the past i went for beads to make mala necklaces - the show is abundant with items for that need.
I attended this venue years ago, and it was very different from the show I attended recently. Way too many inexpensive products from China like hair accessories, scarves, etc... There were even t-shirt and sheet sellers! I was there for semi-precious and sterling silver beads. I bought from only 4 good sellers. The rest of the bead sellers had cheap, gaudy jewelry. Definitely not enough bead sellers. It is a gem and bead show, isn’t it? I was very disappointed. I’d like to try other locations, maybe they would have different sellers.
I've been coming to the shows for many years. Over the years it has become more about beads than gems and jewelry. I have however met many jewelers I like and look forward to seeing. I recently found a new jeweler Mikals Designs that has beautiful Larimar jewelry at affordable prices. I also went to a Gem an Mineral show in Raleigh North Carolina and loved it. They had many more gems like Amethyst in rock form and beautiful minerals as well as jewelry . I spoke to some of the vendors and some of them will be at the Massachusetts show !
