+The foundation stone credit of Montreat conference center goes to Rev. John C. Collins. He was a Congregational minister from Connecticut at that time. He with the help of some other leader purchased a land in 1897 and it was erected as a building in 1900. In 1907, here first Presbyterian conference was held.
