The Institute of Physics has organized a meeting to discuss novel techniques for understanding the impact of ionizing radiation on tissue. UKRI has funded the development of LhARA, a laser-hybrid accelerator for radiobiological applications, which aims to revolutionize proton and ion-beam therapy. This facility will enable the study of radiation biology and require the development of new techniques to analyze chemical and biological processes on short timescales. Automation and fast feedback will be crucial for maximizing the potential of the facility.
