With misinformation already on the rise nationwide, its harmful impact has only been intensified by the Covid-19 crisis. According to a study pioneered by Imperial College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the spread of dangerous and misleading news stories online has exacerbated the Covid-19 public health crisis and has the potential to undermine a successful vaccine roll-out.
