The DDP Level One Training, conducted by Betty Brouwer, is an introductory 5-day online workshop focused on Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP). This intervention model, developed by Clinical Psychologist Dan Hughes from the USA, aims to assist therapists and professionals in understanding and supporting children, young people, and their families affected

by trauma. The training integrates theories and research from developmental trauma, attachment theory, intersubjectivity, and child development to create an effective therapeutic approach that fosters relationship development and trauma resolution.
The workshop acknowledges the critical role of adoptive parents, foster carers, and residential workers as primary attachment figures in the recovery of traumatized and attachment-resistant children. Participants will engage in a variety of learning formats including formal presentations, discussions, videotaped sessions, role-plays, and handouts. The program is designed for therapists and practitioners experienced in working with children and young people facing trauma-attachment challenges, as well as their foster, adoptive, or birth families. The training is structured to ensure an optimal learning experience, with two ticket pricing options: Standard and Intersectional Inclusion. The Intersectional Inclusion tickets aim to welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds within the DDP Community, including those who identify as LGBTQ+, Global Majority, have physical disabilities or sensitivities, are neurodivergent, or are adult adoptees, among others.
This online training is scheduled to run in the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone, with strict adherence to computer timezone settings. It is organized by the DDP Network, a global body that promotes DDP, offering information on therapy certification, parenting approaches, resources, training courses, and conferences. Recommended reading prior to attending includes 'Healing Relational Trauma with Attachment-Focused Interventions' by Daniel A. Hughes, Julie Hudson, and Kim S. Golding. Participants are advised to prepare adequately to maximize their learning experience during this impactful training session.
