In recent years, there has been a global shift with companies doing more to tackle their environmental impact. However, the sustainability .. Read more information reported by large (listed) companies is currently insufficient for investors to obtain a good understanding of their environmental and social impact. The European Commission launched a proposal for a “Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive” in April. This proposal aims to revise the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) by introducing detailed EU sustainability reporting standards and expanding the scope to all large companies and almost all listed companies (excluding micro companies). Is it likely to lead to a change in behaviour of companies and investors? Is the proposed reporting going to provide investors the necessary information? And is the proposal targeting the right companies?.
