gathering will convene a diverse group of participants, including members from the ESUSA network and 12 high school Youth Ambassadors (YAs) who will lead key sessions and share their insights throughout the event. The East Coast Regional Gathering aims to foster youth leadership by exploring best practices and strategies to nurture the next generation of music leaders in both after-school and public school music classrooms.
The symposium will showcase the third national Youth Ambassador Cohort, comprised of talented high school students from across the ESUSA network. These YAs will not only present sessions but also collaborate with attendees, exemplifying ESUSA’s commitment to empowering youth leadership in music education. The event will also feature faculty and students from the Peabody Innovation through Music Academy (PIMA), an annual student music camp that emphasizes student voice and leadership. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in activities such as composition sessions, community tours, and a showcase concert highlighting the talents of PIMA students. The gathering will also include networking opportunities and light refreshments, making it a rich environment for learning and collaboration among participants, including educators, program designers, and policy makers.
