Given continued uncertainties related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Midwest Economics Association announces our upcoming 2021 MEA Annual Meetings .. Read more will be virtual. We look forward to taking advantage of the virtual framework by offering new and exciting features to the conference, including different session types and structures as well as a longer conference calendar to accommodate participation in sessions with everyday obligations at home. We will announce an overall award winner and honorable mention by April 1. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis offers a hands-on workshop to introduce academic professionals to using FRED in the classroom. FRED is a free set of online tools provided by the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank that allows users to find, graph, transform, map, and download economic time series. The workshop demonstrates how to access a variety of FRED features and also how to use data to increase student comprehension of economic concepts by connecting numeracy and analytical skills. Other groups have organized sessions at the MEA meetings - the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE), the Society of Labor Economists (SOLE), and the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP).
