The curriculum of the course comprehensively covers the areas recommended by the Pensions Authority, focusing on both the theoretical aspects of trusteeship and practical applications. Participants will engage with a mix of expert presentations, group discussions, and real-life case studies, which together enhance the learning experience. Key topics addressed in the course include Regulation & Compliance, Trustee Governance, Investment, Administration, Actuarial issues, and Legal matters. Furthermore, the course content is regularly updated to ensure it reflects current legislation and trustee requirements, including the implications of the IORP II Directive once it is transposed into Irish law.
This workshop spans two days, and attendees must complete both Part I and Part II to receive a certificate of attendance. Upon registration for Part I, participants will be automatically enrolled in Part II, eliminating the need for separate bookings. The entire training course is allocated a total of 6 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours by the IAPF for ongoing trustee training requirements, with Part 1 also receiving 3 CPD hours from the Institute of Banking (IOB), subject to confirmation. This structured approach to trustee training not only enhances individual knowledge but also contributes to the overall effectiveness of trustee boards in managing pension schemes.
