AboutSpeakersFollowersExhibitorsReviews
The Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery workshop is an innovative and interactive practice-based educational program designed specifically for pharmacy technicians. This training equips participants with essential skills to become primary advocates for vaccine education and administration. The comprehensive program delves into the fundamentals of immunology, highlighting legal and regulatory considerations that pharmacy ... professionals must be aware of when initiating an immunization program. It emphasizes practical implementation strategies essential for effective vaccine delivery.

The workshop comprises 20 hours of continuing education, split into 12 hours of home study and 8 hours of live training. A significant component of the training includes a hands-on immunization technique assessment, which is scheduled approximately 1 to 2 weeks following the virtual class. The California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) will coordinate with instructors to determine the date, time, and location of this assessment, typically held at two locations in California—one in Southern California and one in Northern California. Participants will be required to supply their own assessment materials and will be assessed by a trained professional using APhA’s Injection Technique Assessment Form. The assessment process is designed to be collaborative, as each learner will practice on a peer, and all necessary clinical supplies will be provided at the assessment site. Successful completion of the assessment will allow participants to take a post-exam, complete an evaluation, and print their certificate of achievement, solidifying their competency in immunization delivery.

Instructor Hyma Gogineni, PharmD, MSc, BCACP, TTS, will lead the training, which also includes discussions on related topics such as delivering medication therapy management services and provides insights into the pharmacy industry, including updates on mental health first aid training and the projected growth of the GLP-1 market. This workshop is organized by the California Pharmacists Association, providing a valuable opportunity for pharmacy technicians to enhance their skills and contribute effectively to public health initiatives.
