a variety of sessions aimed at health promotion professionals, researchers, and students of public health.
The conference will kick off with a pre-conference IGC Academic Board Meeting, followed by an opening session where welcoming speeches will be made by representatives from SSPH+ and BFH, including Luca Crivelli and Klazine Van der Horst. This session will also introduce new initiatives from SSPH+, alongside updates on student activities and postdoctoral engagements. One of the key highlights includes the session on 'Collaborative Capacity Building for Health Promotion Professionals in Switzerland,' which aims to foster a shared understanding of capacity-building strategies for health promotion professionals. This session will provide insights from stakeholder interviews and workshops, contributing to the development of a position paper on health promotion in Switzerland.
In addition to capacity building, the conference will delve into the future directions of SSPH+ journals such as the International Journal of Public Health (IJPH) and Public Health Reviews (PHR). An interactive plenary session will solicit community feedback on future publishing models, led by experts like Christopher Woodrow and Nino Künzli. The Competence Network Health Workforce (CNHW) will also be featured, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among researchers to address challenges in healthcare workforce sustainability.
The agenda includes discussions on pressing issues like the decline in youth well-being, with contributions from experts like Sebastian Mader and Annette Fahr. A significant focus will be placed on the Swiss Brain Health Plan, which aims to address brain health through awareness, training, and research on brain disorders. Furthermore, the conference will host a 'speed dating' career session, offering early career researchers and students a unique opportunity to learn about various career paths in public health.
Workshops will cover a range of topics, including strategies for integrating equity and justice principles into research, as well as accessible science communication for a lay audience. Topics such as sustainable aging in place will also be explored, particularly how urban environments can be adapted to support the elderly. Finally, the conference will conclude with a wrap-up session and the presentation of the SSPH+ Award for the best published PhD article in Public Health for 2025, celebrating outstanding contributions to the field. This event promises to be a comprehensive platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development in public health.
