Technical Meeting on Novel Applications of Accelerator-based Techniques for Socio-economic Benefits

Particle accelerators offer beams of charged particles that can be utilized for various purposes. These applications encompass areas such as industry, medicine, aerospace technologies, environmental monitoring, cultural heritage, food quality, drug development, materials analysis, biotechnology, and forensics, among others. There are plans for new advanced machines based on existing technology. In order to evaluate this potential and promote the benefits of particle accelerators, a Technical Meeting has been proposed. This meeting will focus on accelerators with R&D programs that have a high potential for innovation, success stories of novel applications supporting economic growth, and key areas where particle accelerators can contribute to societal impact. The purpose of the event is to assess gaps, niche areas, and recent developments in utilizing accelerator science and technology for socio-economic benefits.
