To RSVP, go to the bottom of the page. The Department of Art History is inviting everyone to a public lecture by Sinclair Bell, Professor of Art History at Northern Illinois University. The lecture, titled "‘Race,’ Racism, & Representation in Roman Art: Aethiopians in the Visual Arts of the Roman World," will be moderated by Sophie Crawford-Brown, Assistant Professor of Art History and Director of the Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations Program. The lecture will discuss the visual and .. continue reading material culture of the Roman Empire and its encounters with foreign peoples. It will take place at Fondren Library, Kyle Morrow Room (3rd fl) on October 26th at 4:00pm. The lecture is free and open to the Rice community and the public. It is co-sponsored by the Department of Modern and Classical Literatures and Cultures, Center for African and African American Studies, and Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations Program.
