The Hydrogen-Metal Systems GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the .. continue reading field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field. The year 2023 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the biannual "Hydrogen-Metal Systems" Gordon Research Conference. Hydrogen will play a critical role over the next 20 years to address the international goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions. With growing availability of green hydrogen, it will be critical for our research community to develop a greater understanding of hydrogen interactions with metals and materials to enable creative solutions to our most pressing challenges. Although hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe it is rather inert until complexed with a metal. The interaction of hydrogen within materials ranges from weak van der Waals interactions to strongly bound in chemical bonds. The strength of the hydrogen metal interactions plays a large role in the dynamics of hydrogen in materials. The Hydrogen-Metal Systems GRC provides an opportunity for researchers and students to be part of the discussions on the latest developments in all aspects of hydrogen-metal interactions. The openness and format of the conference makes it an ideal environment for exchange of ideas and establishment of collaborations. All talks are invited but all attendees are welcome to submit a poster. Approximately eight poster applications will be selected to present short flash talks on their poster topic during the Monday evening session. All presentations including the ensuing discussions are considered as private, with the restriction that the given information is not for public use. As there are no parallel sessions, attendees can attend every invited talk. The attendees are invited to present posters on novel and unpublished results in order to stimulate discussions during the evening sessions. Free afternoons are ideal periods for networking, group discussions, and informal one-on-one interactions. The 2023 Conference on Hydrogen-Metal Systems will span a broad spectrum of research that seeks to connect our understanding of the dynamics of hydrogen interactions with materials and how these properties can enhance a range of applications.
