The IMPACT course is a comprehensive two-day program designed to introduce the principles and practices of acute medical care, tailored specifically for trainee doctors. It encompasses essential knowledge, skills, understanding, and attitudes necessary for assessing and treating acutely unwell patients. The course is structured to provide guidance on when to ... seek additional help, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to handle critical situations. Attendees can expect a variety of learning formats, including key point presentations, hands-on skills stations, and workshops led by experienced instructors in a supportive environment.

IMPACT is targeted at IMT 1, 2, and 3 level trainees who are specializing in Acute Medicine, General Internal Medicine, and Acute Care Common Stem (ACCS) programs. Foundation doctors who have completed at least eight months in acute medical specialties during their FY2 year may also participate, although they should be aware that the course content is geared towards more advanced trainees. A prerequisite for attending the IMPACT course is successful completion of an Advanced Life Support (ALS) course. This program is developed in collaboration with the Federation of Royal Medical Colleges and the Royal College of Anaesthetists, receiving endorsements from several esteemed bodies including the Resuscitation Council UK, the Intensive Care Society, and the Society of Acute Medicine.

The course takes place at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, conveniently located in Glasgow City Centre, providing easy access to major transportation hubs. Participants will have the opportunity to network with peers and professionals dedicated to advancing healthcare practices. Additionally, the venue boasts state-of-the-art facilities and provides lunch prepared by award-winning chefs. This event is organized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, aiming to enhance the skills and careers of healthcare professionals not only in the UK but also reaching audiences from countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
