Harm Reduction International

Harm Reduction International is thrilled to be holding HR21 in Melbourne, Australia, on 16-19 April 2023. The organisation’s history is firmly rooted in the Harm Reduction International Conference, which began in Liverpool in 1990, and is an integral part of our work to mobilise for reform. The conference - now held biennially - is the main global forum for the exchange of information at the intersection of human rights, public health and drug policy. It attracts over 1,000 international delegates, including service providers, policy makers, UN officials, researchers, advocates and networks of people who use drugs, among others. Conference events have helped to put harm reduction on the map and to coordinate advances, innovations, evidence and advocacy in this field for almost three decades.
