Measuring and reporting of carbon emissions as a tool to address climate change has increasingly become a mainstream business activity for many Irish .. Read more businesses. Driven by investor interest, more frequent requests from customers in tenders and contracts, and the increasing interest from employees and the community in general on the topic of climate change, Irish companies are measuring and disclosing their climate change impacts to organisations such as CDP in growing numbers. Many companies have gone a step further and have set ambitious targets to reduce their emissions over a particular time frame, including working towards a net zero emissions target or other carbon neutral commitments and pledges. Carrying out carbon footprints, assessing climate risk & opportunity, setting targets and aligning reporting with global best practice are becoming competitive issues for many businesses. Like other responsible business and sustainability topics, the challenge for many companies is very often defining where to  begin this journey, understanding the key steps, and incorporating many varied issues into developing a framework for incorporating sustainability and low carbon initiatives into their existing business operations.
