Read more water utilities are looking to replacing lead service lines (LSLs) in their aging water distribution systems. The state of Illinois is currently formulating legislation requiring utilities to develop lead service line replacement (LSLR) programs. In response to this need, best practices and lessons learned have been collected from LSLR case studies including published literature and interviews with individuals leading LSLR programs. Alongside full LSLR programs, communities have also developed policies around partial lead service line replacements (PLSLR) for main breaks and non-participating households.
