Presenting the results of CERRE’s research project ‘Contestability in digital markets: the role of essential data’. Data are playing an .. Read more increasingly important role in the business models of digital platforms. Recent policy reports have highlighted the importance of data openness and access to data to ensure the contestability of digital markets. However, platforms’ reliance on data varies greatly and so does the types of data. Any obligations to impose data access and openness should be very carefully designed. During the webinar, they will provide insights as to potential remedies and the role of competition policy as well as on the possible role of different modes of regulation (self-, co- and hard regulation).
