In July 2020, the government launched the second phase of its independent review into drug misuse, focussing on treatment, recovery, and prevention. .. Read more This comes at a time when, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, mental health on average has deteriorated by 8.1% , according to the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and substance misuse is expected to rise as the pandemic and uncertainty about the future continues. The pandemic also raises questions about future demand and delivery of drug and alcohol treatment. In order to continue supporting people who are drug dependent, new cross-sector initiatives are required to tackle and reduce drug and substance misuse. This conference will address real concerns for local authorities, health and social care services, and voluntary organisations in confronting drug and substance misuse. Participants will be able to share their challenges and solutions to drug and substance misuse through networking, practical case studies and ideas for moving forward. This session will provide attendees with the opportunity to discuss the main challenges they face in implementing cross-sector initiatives to reduce drug and substance misuse.
