As the People’s Republic of China celebrates its 71st anniversary, it is a moment to take a closer look at China’s efforts to reshape the world, with one of the biggest infrastructure initiatives the world has ever seen. It’s called the New Silk Road, and since it launched in 2013, most of the world’s countries have signed on to be part of it. The translation from Chinese is the Belt & Road–a belt of land routes, and a Maritime Silk Road of sea routes. It’s part of what he calls the China Dream.
