The 4th Symposium of the ICTM Study Group on Music and Dance of the Slavic World will explore the connections between traditional music and dance and cultural identity. The event will feature panels, film presentations, and a hybrid format allowing for online participation. Attendees can submit abstracts to the Program Committee Chair. The symposium will delve into the transmission of traditional repertoire and performance skills, examining the various learning and teaching systems that have evolved over time. It will also explore the role of music and dance in politics and the ways in which they have been used as symbols and manipulated by different groups. Additionally, the symposium aims to address the often overlooked topic of violence in traditional cultures and its connection to music and dance. Proposals are invited from current members of the ICTM and registration fees apply.
