Subjectivity and intersubjectivity are at the heart of all communication and creation. Subjectivity is most generally the fact that the speaker and the writer, author or performer not only convey the content, but also express themselves by embedding attitudes, assessments and emotions in their text and creation. Intersubjectivity, on the other hand, is the relationship of a text or a work with communication partners: the listener, the reader, the audience, the co-performer, another character in the work, another work. Thus, these phenomena also unite the different fields of activity of the Estonian Center of Excellence for Research.
