She is also an active member of the G3ict Delegation at the ITU. Robert Mandara is the Vice President of the European Association of Cochlear Implant Users (Euro-CIU) in Spain. Following a mainstream education and apprenticeship, he graduated from the University of Surrey with a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He received cochlear implants in 2014 and 2016. He believes that implants have transformed his life and he aims to help improve access to cochlear implants and to secure lifelong support for those who have them. G3ict – the Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies – is an advocacy initiative launched in December 2006 by the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development, in cooperation with the Secretariat for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at UN DESA.
