Tue, 28 Nov09:00 AM - 10:00 AMCan You Escape from this Session? At your table you will find a locked box. You will also find a clue. Can you and your fellow attendees escape from the room so that you can continue the EXPO? Escape rooms, puzzles, games, simulations. Experiential, high-impact, gamified education is sweeping the country. And for good reason. We learn by building our own cognitive scaffolding around ideas as we engage with them actively. The more complex the experience, the better our ability to craft new learning pathways. The more fun the experience, the more we will be emotionally committed to remembering. This session, hosted by a university professor and director of general education who has used simulation and gaming in his teaching for two decades, will take participants through a series of gamified learning puzzles, housed within the larger structure of the locked-box escape room experience. Instead of the disappointing irony of slidedecked lectures which cajole us into audience-centered learning, how about being an audience in an experience centered around you? How about earning your takeaways . . . if you have what it takes to succeed! How about walking away from the final task (spoiler alert!) having created your own small prototype of this kind of experience so that you can create this kind of experience in your organization?Learning Objectives:Collaboratively enact and absorb principles and practices of gamified, simulation-based and puzzled learning.Understand and takeaway clear steps for how to build this kind of session for other events and conferences.Collaboratively create a prototype game/simulation module onsite.

Wed, 29 Nov09:30 AM - 10:30 AMBeyond Post Analytics: A Social Media Strategy for Engagement and ConnectionEngagement trumps reach. Getting eyeballs is less important than keeping them and connecting with the person behind them. Numbers are easy to dashboard, but they are reactive, tactical. Chess grandmaster Savielly Tartakower said "Tactics is what you do when there is something to do; strategy is what you do when there is nothing to do." Yet, in the always-on world of social media, it feels like there is always something to do. We need more posts, more picture, more time, more CONTENT. And so we are obsessed with tactics. We devour blog posts telling us which half-hour of the day to post to get views. But if we stop for a bit and act like we have nothing to do, we can think strategy. We can think connection. We can think bigger that our feed, which seems, at times, like it is really feeding on us instead of the other way around. This talk will take you through redefining your social media strategy to make connections, produce engagements and stop the feeling that you are throwing stuff into a digital wood-chipper. 12 strategic building-blocks will be explained using customized analysis of association social media content.Learning Objectives:Learn how to generate a social media content strategy that works for association/exposition audiences.Learn 12 different techniques to facilitate daily social media content given a limited time and budget.Learn to build social media relationships to leverage the concept of "social proof" to increase engagement.

Thu, 30 Nov09:00 AM - 10:00 AMInfuse Micro-Learning Experiences into Your Expohe way B2B professionals buy in the 21st century has evolved. Buyers conduct a significant amount of research online before speaking to a salesperson. More stakeholders are involved in the buying process. Decisions favor companies who add value and insight before the sale. Progressive tradeshow organizers can align with this shift by infusing their exhibit floors with solution-based, learning experiences. Designing bite-sized learning feature areas will help keep attendees on the show floor–and in the booths–longer.Learning Objectives:Review five realities of the modern B2B buyer.Assess learning from failed attempts for show floor solution-based experiences.Formulate big ideas for creating show floor theatres/experiences and how to fund them.

Thu, 30 Nov10:15 AM - 11:15 AMCode Blue - Keeping the Event Heartbeat Up Beyond the Show DaysNearly all organizers experience the same event activity cycles (website visits, social mentions, and searches) starting about 10 weeks in advance and steadily picking-up speed with a spike a few days before and during the event. Then it drops and after one-week, the activity flat-lines. A tremendous amount of content is produced at every event - conference sessions, featured speakers, vendor displays, product launches, networking parties, special events – and attendees can’t be everywhere at once so repackaging and serving content delivers additional benefit to the audience, keeps the event top-of-mind with the attendee and produces a steady heartbeat of activity for the event.Learning Objectives:Discover tested and proven methods to re-purpose the content already produced at the event.Capture over-and-above material out of the public eye.Generate easily shareable/snackable content to grow the attendee base.

Thu, 30 Nov01:20 PM - 01:35 PMech Use Case #4: Active Event Technology: Check In and Badge Distribution Without LinesWaiting in line is frustrating. When large numbers of people arrive at typical events the first order of business is to check in and receive a badge. Usually that requires waiting in lines that snake back and forth waiting for your turn to access either a scanner or staff member to give you your badge. Event organizers must balance the number of staff, computers, scanners, and printers required to perform registration. Too few staff and the lines grow out of control and the attendees start the event with boredom and frustration. Too many staff and equipment incurs extra expense.
