Unhelpful marshalls this year. Not a normal thing, but this year we had a very bad experience.

There were far too many stages. The stage at the beginning of the festival (near Mein St) had the volume up so loud the audience stayed quite a few metres away to try and preserve their ears. Oh Newtown Festival, when will you learn that less is more? I long for the old days when you could actually not only talk to old friends that you met, you could even get around to all the stages. Come on, get sustainable!

Exhibitor will showcase a series of outdoor events, performances, an opportunity to celebrate Newtown by bringing the community together out into the public realm, the Street Fair for which more than 1 kilometer of the streets of Newtown are closed to traffic, a smorgasbord of 10 music stages, a busking pitch, 3 fairground sites, and 350 stalls, a fantastic range of tastes from 90 food stalls, local crafts people, community groups, and visiting stall holders selling an enormous range of goods, reflecting the diversity of the people who come together for this event, live music, colourful costumes where dance and all day entertainment for all ages is provided by community groups, local musicians and Wellington bands and much more.
