The LANDac Conference, hosted at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, serves as a culmination of five years of collaboration focused on land governance and its implications for equality and justice in a rapidly polarizing world. This two-day event will encompass an array of thought-provoking keynotes, panel sessions, and round tables.

On July 2, prior to the main conference, an Early Career Researchers Day will provide a platform for PhD and MSc students to present their work and engage in meaningful discussions aimed at translating research into applicable knowledge for diverse stakeholders.
Over the years, the conference has identified pressing issues such as insecure land and housing rights, the impact of climate change on livelihoods, and the displacement of populations due to conflict and economic instability. Women’s rights to land and resources remain particularly vulnerable. The conference aims to address these challenges through knowledge management, bringing together a spectrum of stakeholders, including academics, practitioners, civil society organizations, policymakers, and donors. The event will focus on themes that align with the LAND-at-scale knowledge management program, including tenure security, gender, and climate change across rural and urban contexts. Participants are encouraged to submit contributions that can be empirical, theoretical, philosophical, or practical, with an emphasis on generating insights into collaborative efforts towards just land governance.
The conference will explore various thematic sessions, such as 'Shaping Collaborations for Just Land Governance' which seeks to understand the complexities of power and knowledge in collaborations across diverse social and geographical spaces. Other topics include the integration of diverse knowledge sources for impactful policy-making, the implications of global interconnectedness on local land governance, and addressing the challenges of land governance in post-conflict settings. Noteworthy sessions will engage with the intersection of land governance and issues of migration, environmental sustainability, and community-led advocacy. The conference will also feature prominent keynote speakers and provide networking opportunities, with a closing session that emphasizes the importance of collaborative learning and adaptive management in land governance projects. The LANDac Conference aims not only to reflect on past learnings but also to foster new collaborations and innovative solutions that can address the pressing issues facing land governance today.
