The Voet van Afrika marathon, half marathon and 10km run walk is taking place in the scenic Bredasdorp region, at the southernmost tip of Africa. These races are unique in character, taking runners over rural dirt roads, mountainous tracks over the Anysberg, some rocks, sand, water and gravel, and eventually ... onto a seemingly endless stretch of tar road with some hills which will surely test your endurance. The 4,2km Toontjie is one of the highlights of the weekend’s events. Families, groups, schools, businesses, friends, grannies, uncles and aunts – all come out in their numbers scores to join in the festive atmosphere. Even the family dogs are welcome to join in the fun. Even here you get a little taste of what the serious runners have to endure on the Voet, with some tar road, gravel, sand and dirt.
