Sat, 11 Oct 12:30 PM - 01:30 PMGP: Ways found to strengthen GP capacity in Sexual Health [More Info] Corinthian Room
The RACGP National Faculty of Specific Interests has recently commenced a Sexual Health Medicine Network. While Australia has a network of publicly funded sexual health clinics, the majority of STIs are diagnosed and treated in general practice and elsewhere in the community. Also, in line with the national STI strategy, public sexual health services are pursuing a more focussed approach. The Second National STI Strategy identified training programs as a priority action area and suggested strengthening training programs, continuing education in STIs and supporting mechanisms for primary healthcare providers. We seek to build the capacity of primary care providers, through a structured educational support program, so they are better equipped to provide service at primary level and have better linkages with existing specialist services. This forum seeks to enquire from and seek the advice of conference members on how to further strengthen and develop evidence-based quality learning programs that are flexibly delivered for healthcare professionals working in sexual health, particularly those working in primary care.
