Research clearly demonstrates that diverse and inclusive teams are more innovative, engaged, and creative in their work. But while many companies embrace diversity, making it really count for the bottom line means embedding inclusiveness into all aspects of an organization's operations. Representing a range of major companies that are working hard to address this challenge, the senior executives on this panel share how their hiring, promotion, and compensation initiatives are paying off not only in terms of a more inclusive corporate culture but also in stronger performance metrics.

In this session, world-renowned economist Noreena Hertz outlines the fundamental forces—geopolitical, economic, societal, demographic, and technological—that are driving transformative change and should be on every business leader’s radar. She then explains in practical terms how, given such rapidly evolving conditions, to lead with agility, innovativeness, and relevance.

We used to know what it took to succeed as a leader—but now? Clearly, many of the necessary skills are still those that women have been developing for centuries, including emotional intelligence and networking. But in a world where uncertainty is the new constant, today’s leaders must also become expert in less familiar areas, like coalition building and integration of technology and people. As serial entrepreneur and noted business author Margaret Heffernan points out, these skills are new to everyone and, in the emerging environment, women can and should show the way.

Nearly six decades ago, Jane Goodall went into the forest in what is now Tanzania, East Africa, to study the remarkable lives of chimpanzees. When she discovered that their very survival was at risk from habitat destruction and illegal trafficking, she developed a breakthrough approach to species conservation that improves the lives of animals, people, and the environment. Continuing her lifelong mission, Goodall takes to the stage to warn about ongoing threats to habitat—but also to offer her reasons for hope that humankind can ultimately solve the problems it has imposed on the earth.

Wed, 06 Nov04:00 PM - 05:00 PMThe True Measure of Self-Worth Keynote
On the face of it, Jameela Jamil has moved from success to success, whether as a model, talk-show host, or television actor. But early in life she experienced a number of serious challenges—from racial bullying to an eating disorder to a nearly crippling back injury—that gave her a much larger purpose than celebrity. Impassioned and irreverent, Jamil speaks out about her campaign to change how the world sees women and how women see themselves, encouraging us all to value our strengths and accomplishments rather than obsess about physical imperfections.
