Swedish Archaeology in Jordan, Palestine and Cyprus, Peter Fischer

The analysis and evaluation of new material from ongoing excavations permit further insights to the main aim of the project: Why did the sophisticated, highly interconnected, Bronze Age societies of the eastern Mediterranean wane around 1200 BCE. Due to its location in the centre of the region Cyprus plays a crucial role in understanding the Sea Peoples Phenomenon, which summarises the effect of migrations and political, economic and climatological changes. The multifaceted approach combines archaeological, historical and numerous scientific methods from an intra-island perspective extending towards a supra-regional understanding of phenomena of general decline.
